Everybody in the club getting tipsy

You can find me in the club? Ahhhhhh no actually you cannot. The clubbing chapter of my life has closed … and not regrettably. I don’t like to metaphorically shut doors and dead bolt them … but I’ve built a mote patrolled by a dragon around this particular gate.

Ten years ago I quite enjoyed a trip to the club … followed by a day of recovery and gossiping with friends. Five years ago I was reluctant to go … hangovers were real and taxis expensive. Present day … I’m totally over it. How do I know? Well I’m glad you asked … or I asked for you … let’s not get caught up in monotonous details.

I know because recently I threw one of my besties a bachelorette party. I was a little worried about staying out late. Nugget wakes up every day at 6:30 a.m. no matter what I have or haven’t done the day before. There’s no longer time for “recovery” or hour long gossip sessions. There’s 7 a.m. diaper changes, followed by feedings, play time and hopefully at some point coffee.

I absolutely loved going out and joining my friends at the restaurant. Watching them enjoy their drinks, play games and frolic was a delight. But when it was getting late (aka 11:30 p.m.) and nearing time for the party to hit the clubs … I respectfully declined. Instead I chauffeured several of the girls to Dixie … watched them slip out into the night … giggling and preparing to dance … and I retired for the evening. When I got home I peeked in on my baby …. She was fast asleep and I felt at peace. Peace with my life changing and growing into my new role as someone’s mommy.

The next day I heard from the girls and got all the gossip … I never missed a beat by skipping out on the club. Instead I was feeling great because I’d slept. I played with Nugget, took her for a long walk and we just enjoyed our Sunday. If mom life is wrong … I don’t want to be right.

Such a good post! Glad you still had a good time with the girls and nugget the next day. And I’m with you, I don’t know that my feet could handle some of the heels we used to wear on our nights out. Haha. The routine of a young babe is definitely a routine for a reason!
