A little piece of normalcy

Life has been … let’s say … different the past couple months. Pre-COVID Nug and I loved to visit the zoo and admire the animals. If we are being honest, I loved it and Nug was rather indifferent. Understandably the zoo shuttered its doors during Oregon’s Stay Home Save Lives order. However, in a delightful turn of events the venue has reopened and implemented social distancing.

Nug has become rather bored with her toys, our house and me. So, I decided a jaunt to the zoo was just what we needed. I got online, reserved our tickets and embraced the feeling of doing something “normal.”

I wasn’t sure what to expect but the empty parking lot looked promising for social distance purposes. The zoo did a great job! The guests were limited, indoor buildings were closed and elephant ears were being hustled. An elephant ear before 10 a.m. is appropriate during the Rona. Happiness is found in the simplest joys right now … and maybe always?

Nug and I had a wonderful time! She got excited to see the animals and many “wows” were exclaimed. Hands down her favorite exhibit was the elephants. Obviously we had to get an elephant stuffed animal to commemorate the new found camaraderie.

Until next time animal friends …
