I skipped the humidifier like a fool

Colds are terrible little creations … they interrupt sleep, eating and happiness in general. I despise having a cold myself but there is something especially terrible about watching my baby feel ill.

There are several signs my mini gives when she’s under the weather … but the biggest is cuddling. Nugget is not a cuddle bug … she has a rather independent spirit. She likes to be near mom and dad … but doing things herself … sitting, playing with toys, watching her pets. So when she wants to be held for more than 5 minutes I know she’s upset.

The first time Nugget had a stuffy nose I nearly lost my mind. It was distressing to watch someone so small sniffle and struggle. I called one of my dear friends … on the verge of panic …. she asked me very calmly if I had a humidifier. My mind raced back to Nugget’s baby registry … I remembered seeing humidifiers and laughing them off. I had survived hundreds of colds breathing regular air … plus they weren’t as much fun as a swing or bath toys.

This conversation took place at 10:30 p.m. Nugget was in the bathroom with hubby. The shower was turned to Amazon setting (not a real thing) blasting steamy air at mach 10 to give her sinuses a brief reprieve. I realized I was running out of time to salvage this night of sleep for everyone … Target closes its doors at 11 p.m. sharp.

I raced to Target like a speed demon in search of holy grail …. aka humidifier. I remained skeptical but desperate enough to try. Let me tell you … the little electronic is magical. Soon Nugget was sleeping and breathing like a non-sick person. The humidifier … aka humy … went everywhere with us for the next few days … upstairs … downstairs … to bed … it was our constant companion.

Moral of the story … don’t be like me … risking sanity and driving privileges … get the humidifier in advance and save yourself the stress.
